OTP Bank Romania hadn’t sent and will not send in any pretext, e-mails to clients: of identification, authentication, or warning.
The method of fraud called 'phishing' is the transmission of electronic messages to e-mail users, which requires their personal identification data.
Such a message was sent on 11 February 2009 as coming from OTP Bank Romania, through the customer is invited to access a link to a web page similar to the bank’s site, for the purpose of transmitting identification data such as the last 10 digits of the card and access code. Although there have been taken measures that the site be closed, there is a possibility that the fraud attempt to be repeated.
This way we inform the OTP Bank Romania’s customers not to act on any requests that asks for provide personal and confidential information.
We mention that due to dynamic identification code (generated by the token), the OTPdirekt’s security, as well the cards issued by OTP Bank Romania, were not affected any time.
